The Solway Firth Spaceman refers to a figure seen in a photograph taken in 1964 by Jim Templeton. The famous photo was taken on Burgh Marsh, overlooking the Solway Firth in Cumbria, England.

Jim, who was an amateur photographer, wanted to take some photos, especially of their daughter Elizabeth’s new dress, with his Kodak SLR – (KODAcolour X at 100th of a second at f16). Elizabeth posed for him sitting on the grass what was to become one of the most remarkable photographic mysteries ever.

Mr.Templeton claims the photograph shows a background figure wearing a space suit and has insisted that he did not see anyone present when the photograph was taken. The image was reproduced widely in contemporary newspapers and gained the interest of ufologists.

The case was reported to the police and taken up by Kodak, the film manufacturers, who offered free film for life to anyone who could solve the mystery when their experts failed. A short while after the release of the photograph, Mr.Templeton claimed that he was visited by two men who, he says, came from her majesty’s government.

The men tried to make Templeton admit that he had photographed a person, but he refused. In the same time frame that the picture was taken, a Blue Streak missile launch at the Woomera Test Range, using Cumbrian-built weaponry, was aborted because of two large men who were witnessed on the firing range.

The technicians reported that the figures resembled the Solway Firth Spaceman. Many have tried to debunk the Solway Firth film, but have failed to provide scientific evidence that the “spaceman” in the film was an inadvertent passer-by who was captured on film.

Having done much research into the Solway Firth Spaceman, I found a nice short video on the incident that I hope you will like.

Please let me know what you think in the comments section below the videos. Thanks.
