The Babushka Lady is an unknown woman who might have either taken photographs or movie film during the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy at Dealey Plaza in Dallas, TX.

The Babushka Lady is the nickname that was coined to her because of the scarf she wore on her head. Richard Sprague, the leading investigator in charge of photographic evidence, dubbed this woman with the name because It was similar to scarves worn by elderly Russian women (бабушка – babushka) means “grandmother” or “old woman” in Russian.

The Babushka Lady appears in many of the photographs & film that were taken during the shooting. She was wearing a brown overcoat and a scarf on her head which made her somewhat stand out in the pictures & film.

Was This Lady Involved in J.F.K’s Murder?!

The Babushka Lady was observed standing on the grass between Elm and Main streets. She appears to be holding a camera of some sort that is pointing directly at the Presidental motorcade as the shots were fired.

Her position puts her fairly close to Elm Street, which is a really close position to the events that were unfolding right in front of her eyes. She was, in fact, very close to the JFK limo as bullets were being fired, and the President was struck in the head by the mortifying shot.

Most of the spectators at the event began running away or taking cover when the shots started firing, but the Babushka Lady just stood there and continued to film the motorcade as if oblivious to what was happening around her.

Investigators were very interested in finding out who this woman was and wanted to see the photos or film that she had taken. The “Babushka Film” her could almost certainly be the mirror image of the Zapruder film, the most complete film taken that day.

Her film would most probably include the Texas Schoolbook Depository, perhaps even including the sniper’s nest window, the grassy knoll and possibly, what was going on inside and behind the limousine.
