The “Flatwoods Monster” occurence is a classic close encounter and one of the most baffling cases I’ve heard of in UFO history. The extremely close proximity and adverse physical effects that were experienced by the witnesses in this case is defined as a close encounter of the third kind, according to the Hynek scale of UFO classifications.

This particular encounter sets its self apart from other Alien/UFO encounters in that it was observed by multiple people, one of them being a military officer. In addition to this one particular incident, the Flatwood Monster has been seen multiple times in the area since then.

Many of these incidents being reported by credible residents of the community The “Flatwoods Monster” also known as the “Lizard Monster” and the “Braxton County Monster” is an unidentified extraterrestrial or cryptid reported to have been sighted in the town of Flatwoods, West Virginia, United States in September of 1952.

On the evening of September 12, 1952, two brothers, Edward and Fred May, and their friend Tommy Hyer (ages 13, 12, and 10 ) were playing football at the Flatwoods Elementary School yard when they saw a bright fiery unidintified flying object crash land in a nearby field. Upon seeing the object crash land, the boys ran and told Kathleen May, the mother of Edward and Fred and frantically recalled what they had just witnessed.

Mrs. May accompanied by the three boys, along with three additional boys, Neil Nunley, Ronnie Shaver (ages 14 and 10) and 17-year old West Virginia National Guardsman Eugene ‘Gene’ Lemon, proceeded to investigate the strange occurence. With flashlights in tow, and Eugene’s dog running ahead of them towards the crash site, they experienced something that would forever change their live’s, the small local community of Flatwoods and would stun the scientific/paranormal world forever…

Instead of explaining what happened next, I found a short video that concisely explains it all. Its only 5 minutes long and nicely summarizes the event. Please let me know what you think in the comments section below the video. Thanks.
