At 145-years-old, Mbah Gotho has outlived ten siblings, four wives and three children. According to records recognized by Indonesian officials, Mbah Gotho was born in December, 1870, reported The Daily Mail.

If his date of birth is independently verified, Mbah Gotho will be significantly older than the world’s previous oldest person, Jeanne Calment of France, who lived to the age of 122. Mbah Gotho resides with his grandson in Central Java, Indonesia.

Until recently, he enjoyed walking independently, but in recent months needs assistance with eating and bathing. He spends his time listening to the radio, enjoying the company of family and smoking.

When asked what the secret to a long life is, Mbah Gotho replied “The recipe is just patience.” Yet despite this longevity, Mbah Gotho recently told Indonesian media of his desire to die, reports The Telegraph.

“What I want is to die. My grandchildren are all independent,” he said.

One of Mbah Gotho’s grandsons said his grandfather has been preparing for his death since he was 122-years-old and bought a burial site close to his deceased children. “The gravestone there was made in 1992.

That was 24 years ago,” Mbah Gotho’s grandson said.
