Hoverboards are all the rage at the moment – so much so that even priests are getting involved.Footage from the Philippines shows a priest delivering his Christmas Eve sermon while riding one, much to the apparent delight of churchgoers. Reports say the priest from Our Lady of Miraculous Medal, Biñan Parish, has been suspended by his local Diocese.
The Diocese of San Pablo, Laguna, released a statement on Tuesday about the incident saying: “The Eucharist demands utmost respect and reverence. It is the Memorial of the Lord’s Sacrifice.
It is the source and summit of Christian life. It is the Church’s highest form of worship. Consequently, it is not a personal celebration where one can capriciously introduce something to get the attention of the people.”
The statement said the priest would be “out of the parish and will spend some time to reflect on this past event.” It also said he apologised.
